Children’s mental health can no longer be put in second place

Children need adults who are prepared to understand their emotions and offer them real support

At a time when anxiety, stress, social isolation, and rapid changes in their environment are becoming increasingly prevalent, children need adults who are prepared to understand their emotions and offer them real support.

That is why the training program within the EMBRACE initiative brought together, in the 8 sessions organised, over 160 specialists from a variety of institutions and fields. Representatives of public institutions participated (the Bucharest Municipal Center for Educational Resources and Assistance, the school inspectorates of Vaslui and Bucharest, the County Centers for Resources and Social Assistance in Iași and Vaslui, the Bacău Social Assistance Directorate, the General Directorates for Social Assistance and Child Protection in Iași and Bacău) alongside non-governmental organizations, special education institutions, teachers, principals, and school counselors from EMBRACE pilot schools in the counties of Iași, Bacău, and Vaslui.

The diversity of the participants’ fields of work shows us one thing clearly

Children’s mental health is a shared responsibility, and specialists need up-to-date tools that are validated and adapted to today’s realities.

During the training, participants explored:

  • how to recognize the early signs of emotional difficulties.
  • how to intervene effectively and empathetically;
  • how to build safe environments where children can express themselves and grow up healthy;
  • how to collaborate between institutions so that no child is left behind.

A testimonial

Counselor at Bucharest Municipal Center for Educational Resources and Assistance:

”I would like to start by thanking the organizers for the opportunity to participate in this training course. The EMBRACE project is well articulated and focused on students’ well-being, which they can achieve through their own efforts and resources, as well as through the positive actions of parents and teachers. The project equips these three groups with clear, practical tools. The session dedicated to teachers and specialists, beyond its concise and very pleasant presentation, was rich in practical applications, revealing discussions, mutual support, and validation.”

In the current context, expertise in mental health is not an advantage – it is a necessity.

Every trained specialist means a child who is better understood, better supported, and closer to a balanced future.
